Have you heard of Hollar.com?

Hi everyone!! I want to share a new website that I found that is amazing!! Its like shopping at a dollar store online. Well it is an online dollar store lol. As you can tell by the title, the site is called Hollar.com. I first heard about this site through a TV commercial and of course it was the low prices that prompted me to check it out. So lets get to it!

The first thing I like to do when shopping on a new site is go to their “About” section because I like to know who I’m shopping with. The excerpt from this site is:

“Hollar is the ultimate mobile destination for cool products at incredible deals starting at $1. Featuring thousands of items from toys and electronics to home, beauty and apparel – including unique curated gift and party collections – Hollar is all about the joy of discovery.”

Sounds good right? Well I have to say that I was pretty impressed with the prices on this site. I did visit a few times to shop around before I actually made a purchase. I like to add things to the cart and come back to buy them later and I have to say this is not the site to do so. Things sell out pretty fast,  so if you want it get it the first time. So I finally placed an order on August 8 and it shipped out on August 10th. My order shipped from Commerce, CA and was at my door in San Antonio, TX on August 14th. Not a bad transit time! Everything was packaged very well and the big orange box made it clear where the package was from.

So I only ordered a few things because it was more of a trial and error for me. I did order my son some superhero glasses that came well wrapped and protected. Honestly most of the order was for my son. Here is an image of what it looked like right after I opened it.

The glasses came in tact with and plenty of bubble wrap to secure them and so did his learning books. So, overall I was very happy with this order and I would definitely recommend you shop Hollar.com for great deals. Creating an account gets you 20% off one item and free shipping on your first order. There is a $10 minimum order because of the low prices of course. So, my order total came up to $11.00 for 2 Pre-K books ($1/ea), 1 Alphabet Learning mat ($2), 1 red wine face mask ($2), and a 4 piece Marvel Comics 16 oz glass tumbler set ($5).  The shipping price would have been $5.95 but I got the free shipping of course. The one item discount took off $1 from my order for a grand total of $10 for everything, including shipping. Great deal!

My Makeup Obsession

Hi friends!! So as you can tell by the title of this blog, I want to talk to you all about my little makeup obsession and a few of my favorite brands. I’ve seriously been obsessed with makeup since I was a child but I wasn’t allowed to wear anything other than eyeliner when I got to high school. I remember being a cheerleader and watching some of my teammates putting on their makeup before the games and I have to admit, I was pretty jealous. Anyway, fast forward to 21-year-old me that wanted to wear makeup to her going away party before she left for Korea. I remember going to Walmart with my sister and best friend to buy foundation and eyeshadow and it was then that I realized that shopping for makeup would not be easy but it would be exciting.

Today I wear some high end makeup and some drugstore makeup. I’ve tried a few foundations over the years and my all time favorite so far is my MAC foundations. I use the liquid Matchmaster and Studio Fix pressed powder and the combination is perfection! Of course the price I can’t say the same for though. I’m always open to try to new things though so if any of you have suggestions on a more affordable foundation for deeper skin tones please leave a comment below. Since I’m on the subject of MAC cosmetics, lets talk lip colors. I absolutely love their selection of lipsticks and glosses. I’ve actually become a huge fan of matte lipsticks thanks to MAC retro matte liquid lipstick colors. Matte lip colors tend to last a little longer than glossy colors do for me. Again, MAC isn’t the cheapest when it comes to their makeup but I’m hooked and some other products that I have tried just don’t add up. For instance, I ordered some lip colors from Too Faced and I was SO disappointed with them. I have a few of the Melted lipsticks from them and they are all so sheer and seem watered down. I pretty much wasted my money on them but it was a lesson learned.  Below you will see a few of the liquid lipsticks that I have. The first three are from MAC, the next two are NYX lip colors that I haven’t tried yet, the last ones are from Too Faced. I’m a huge fan of lipsticks so yes I have colors that I haven’t even worn yet like the NYX ones and the Melted matte from Too Faced. The photo at the top is a few of my favorite from my collection of MAC lipsticks also.

Lets move on to my next favorite, eyeshadow!! I have a little eyeshadow obsession and I have found my favorite brand that I’d like to share with you all today. My first expensive eyeshadow palette (well expensive to me lol) was the Peach palette from Too Faced and I love it because it has such beautiful neutral colors and it actually smells like peaches. So I used it for a while and then decided I needed more colors. It wasn’t long before I discovered my favorite brand eyeshadow, Juvia’s Place. Juvia’s place has inexpensive but great quality eyeshadow palettes. I love that I can buy these palettes with such a variety of colors and not only are the color selections awesome but the pigmentation in each color is unbelievable! Juvia’s place does sell other items but I have only tried their eyeshadows because they always have such good reviews. Below you will see the palettes that I have but I have not done any color swatches on any of them yet. Pictured are two eyeshadow palettes and a blush palette. The eyeshadow palettes are Zulu and Masquerade and you see the colors in them on the next picture. The blush palette is awesome too and I just might talk about it in a future review post.

So, I hope you all enjoyed my run down of a few of my favorite makeup products. I do have lots of makeup but I just wanted to touch bases with some of my favorite products. If you have any suggestions for must have products then please leave a comment below!

Get to “Know me”

First of all I want to say thank you to those of you that have followed me since I started my blog. I appreciate all of the positive feedback also, you guys rock! Now, let’s get to it. I want to talk to you all today about a very big part of my life, my family.

I spoke briefly about my husband and son in my introduction blog yesterday and promised to dig a little deeper at another time. So, lets start with my husband. We met about 10 years ago while we were both working at Smithfield Packing in Tar Heel, NC. I know 10 years seems like so long ago but time flies when you’re having fun.  We met when my husband was 19 years old and I had just turned 20. Soon after meeting we found that we both had goals that we wanted to achieve and they coincidentally lined up with each other. We both wanted more in life and we knew that we could only achieve our dreams by leaving North Carolina and starting a life of our own. My family was very unsupportive of our relationship but I knew what I wanted and I went for it. So, I joined the Army in 2009 and by the end of the year I was at my first duty station in Korea. My husband soon joined me in Korea and our new life began there.

Korea

Lotte World, South Korea, May 2010

We stayed in Korea until November of 2011 and then moved on to Kentucky/Tennessee. Our lives weren’t perfect but we managed to get through some of the roughest times of our lives together. One thing that we learned in our first few years of marriage is that communication is key when it comes to disagreements. The reality is that every couple has disagreements and some will be bigger than others but the only way to get anything solved is to fix them amongst yourselves. I used to be the one that ran to her family and friends with every little thing that went wrong in life but it wasn’t long before I learned that they were rooting for my downfall. I know, crazy right?! I don’t think that it was intentional but sometimes people want you to live your life by their book without giving you the chance to write your own.

Fast forward to 2013 when our lives would change forever. I left for Louisiana to go to deployment training on January 8th with all kinds of mixed emotions because I just didn’t know what to expect and it was my husbands birthday. I was excited to finally be deploying with plans of getting out of the Army soon after I returned from overseas. We got to Ft Polk the next day and started unpacking all of out things and setting up what would be our clinic for the next month. On January 10th everything was all set up and it was time to test all of our equipment to make sure everything was functional. I decided to be the test subject for the pregnancy test for some reason or another, I really don’t know what made me do it. I handed over my urine and went on with the conversation with friends as the lab tech showed the soldiers that hadn’t done the test before how it worked. My conversation was quickly interrupted with the news that I was pregnant and of course I thought it was a joke. Well it wasn’t and now me and everyone in the room knew that I was expecting and my bundle of joy would make his grand entrance in September 2013. He’s been the motivation that we have needed to continue to follow our dreams and give him the life that he deserves.

Weeks before giving birth…..

Now you know a little about myself and family! I just wanted to open up a little and tell you all a little about me before I go straight into doing reviews and whatever else that may come to mind. I enjoy life and I want the chance to share it with the world. Thank you all for reading and please feel free to ask questions!

Why start a blog?

Hi everyone!!

I’m so excited to finally be starting my blog. I’ve seriously been thinking about doing this for years but time just didn’t allow it. I’m a very talkative person once I get to know people but that can sometimes take a while for me to do, so, I think this may be the easiest way for me to express myself. So let’s get to it!

A little bit about myself…..I am a wife, mother, small business owner, and soon to be veteran. I plan on a writing a blog about each part of my life separately because some stories are longer than others. In the mean time I will give you a peek into it all at once. I met my husband in 2007 and we got married in 2009 at the mere age of 21. I also joined the Army in 2009 and will be ending my term in service in August of 2017 (next month). My pride and joy entered this world in 2013 and has brought nothing but joy into our lives (even though he’s throwing a tantrum right now). I started my own small business in 2015 in order to put my hobby of crafting to good use since it is something that I’m actually pretty good at doing. So, that was a chronological run down of every important part of my life and some of the topics that I will be speaking on in some of my post. I will also being talking just everyday things that go on in life, like my natural hair journey, buying a home, going to school, shopping, adjusting to civilian life, makeup, etc.

I chose to do a lifestyle blog because I don’t want to limit what I talk about and I want to be able to answer questions that you all my have. So, don’t be afraid to ask because I sure won’t be afraid to answer.
